When you think of a weekend brunch, the Bloody Mary cocktail is pretty much a staple on the menu. If it isn’t on the menu, you should turn around and walk out the door immediately. There are so many variations of this “hangover cure”, not to mention the meal-in-a-glass type garnishes that create an Instagram photo wonderland. I decided to steer off the beaten path and fuse the traditional recipe with a twist by adding Umami Flavor. Umami literally means “essence of deliciousness” in Japanese. As of 2002, Umami was added as the 5th core taste (sweet, salty, sour, bitter) and is often described as meaty, savory deliciousness that deepens flavor. This Umami Bloody Mary creates a mouthwatering sensation that is complex and smooth leaving taste testers scratching their heads trying to figure out what that flavor is. It’s bold, spicy and a Bloody Mary fan must try!
